Film Review - ' LOL'
I'm doing a film review for my chosen genre, which is romance or romantic comedy.
'LOL' is teenage coming of age film that follows a young girl and her close group of friends.
I personally found this film monotonous, and gimmicky. It followed main conventions of teenage romantic films. it came full equipped with boring voice overs of the main characters inner monologue, an over- barring urban surrounding, and an unrealistic plot line.
the constant thrumming of social networking and texting, suggested the director was trying very hard to emphasis that the main target group is young people. The whole film had a forced youthful that is unrealistic to what it is really like in young peoples lives.
There was some funny moments, but overall the dialogue, and pace of the film was slow, as well as the overbearing, forced, youthful persona of the film, that was unrealistic.

Film Review- "Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of justice"
Last week I went to see Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Synder. I personal thought the film to be under-developed, as there where so many sub-plot lines, which made the main plot less significant. Furthermore the film was so concentrated on setting up the "Justice League" film ,due to be released in November 2017, that it lost the value of the main plot line. I also personally found the music and sound effect of the movie very heavy handed, which overshadowed the shots in the movie.
However the cinematography of the movie was really good, a lot of beautiful shots from different angles, which was really enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately the film felt very long and it took a long time to reach a pivotal moment.
Overall I didn't particularly enjoy the film due to the heavy, overbearing sound and under-developed plot lines, however the cinematography was really enjoyable to watch.

My Film Certificate
If my film was made into a feature length film I would make it a certificate 12 or 12A due to the film not being subtle for anyone younger than 12. Furthermore the rating the film a 12 or 12A would mean that more people would be able to come see the film.

Choosing the title of my film opening
The working title for the time being has been Educating love, since I believed if made into a feature length film the two main characters would be in full time education and it would be a good play on the plot line of the film. However from the feedback that I have received from my target audience it suggested that the main characters are dressed as if they are going to work, therefore a title to do with education would not be suitable. I deliberate with my media class and we came up with the name 'Winter'. This could be because one of the characters is called winter or the season winter is tied into the story line somehow.
Fonts for my title sequnce
Easy A - Will Gluck (2010)
I really like the opening of Easy A. The font of the title sequence is very simple but the transitions of each name is very complex, interwoven in the shot of the film opening.
This has given me inspiration to make the fonts of my title sequence simple much like Easy A, which is the same genre as my film opening.
New Questionnaire
I did a small questionaare just to find out what my target group thought about the new film opening idea.

Non-diagetic music ideas
While looking for a good song to put unto my film opening, I did some research and found that most romantic comedy films, have folk music in them. This is a aspect that I have not noticed before, for example....
Therefore I have decided to put a folk song unto my film opeing
This gave me the inspiration to put a folk song onto my film opening.

FILM REVIEW- 'Joy'
Joy- David O. Russel (2015)
A true story about Joy Mangano, a single mother of two whose invention of the self-wringing 'Miracle Mop' helped make her a millionaire 50 times over.
This being the third film the Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell have done together, the firsts being 'Silver Linings Play Book' and 'American Hustle', as a viewer you come to expect the dry humor and slightly unconventional tone and story lines of the films.
Lawrence gives a strong performances, that captures the the heart warming, and difficult rage of emotions of the character she plays, however I personally think that that it is the least captivating character of the three she has played under David O. Russell's direction.
overall i enjoyed the film, however there where some point where the story line dragged on, however Lawrence performance was strong and worthy of the Best actress nomination by the Oscars.

Working with split screen technique
At first I didn't understand how to use the split screen on Imovie, however when I discovered how to use it, there where complications such as some shots in the film where cut of, so you couldn't see some of the important shot in the film opening. When I started to cut some of the shots to shorten the length of the film opening. The shots that where cut off by the split screen where discarded and there where no more problem with the split screen. Overall I found working with the split screen technique difficult at first, but after a a while it became easier and more enjoyable.
Editing So Far

Clips that Inspire my film opening
' Blue Is The Warmest Colour' - Abdellatif Kechiche (2013)
I was inspired by the way the two main characters past each other and incorporated a version of that into my film opening.
